Hedge Calculator
You're already on a bet and the market has moved โ or it's a futures ticket close to cashing. Hedging the other side locks profit or reduces variance. This shows the exact stake to make both outcomes pay the same.
| Outcome | Profit |
|---|---|
| Original bet wins | +$33.33 |
| Hedge wins | +$33.33 |
What this means
To fully hedge, you stake the other side enough that your original stake ร original decimal odds equals hedge stake ร hedge decimal odds. That makes both outcomes return the same amount โ your "guaranteed return" โ and your profit becomes that minus the total staked.
Hedging always sacrifices some EV: if the original bet was +EV, the hedge by itself is โEV. You're paying a small expected-value tax for risk reduction. Make sure that's worth it before doing it โ sometimes letting a +EV ticket ride is the right call.
Pre-game hedges work best when one book offers a sharp price on one side and another offers a wide price on the other. In-game, lines move fast, so place the hedge as soon as you decide.
